why the premier league is at its best

So Man Utd have dropped points to West Brom who in turn dismantled Arsenal while Chelsea are destroyed by Sunderland, and lets include Liverpool who realised that Blackpool is not just a joke, the reason for these results and a table being so compact it is near untrue, is that in the summer the big teams did not spend big, so while Real Madrid bought Ozil, and Barcelona bought Villa, it was Man Utd who bought an unknown unproven striker in Hernandez and Chelsea bought Ramieres, but that is not the only reason in fact it is the likes of Sunderland who parted with £13 million that's double what Man Utd spent for Hernandez, all in all we are finding out that the big 4 is no longer that and the gap is closing, not only in terms of spending but now and more crucially in terms of points.

why referees going on strike might be good news

So Scottish football is on the brink of cancelling this weekends games of football, because the referees feel that the abuse they get is going over the limit and in comparison to the English game they are right, in England at the worst an article in the paper may occur, but in Scotland the word death comes into play, the fact is that this mistrust all started because of the Dundee United vs Celtic incident and from that moment on there has been nothing but mistrust, what would be nice to see is that some other countries lot of referees come in, and they make a mistake then the fans will see what happens.

something different

While many may argue that wrestling is not a sport, because it is staged i had the privilege of watching a show called TNA, although I have seen the WWE which is the biggest wrestling company in the world today with such events as the royal rumble and sumerslam and of course Wrestlmania, TNA has gripped me for the past 2 years, and that is because it is different the wrestlers who are slowly becoming recognised names such as AJ Styles and Samoa Joe, and of course the only man who wrestlers today with a gold medal round his neck Kurt Angle, in fact since his arrival in 2006 I believe that he has not had one bad fight, his commitment to the sport is astounding he had a broken neck while winning the Olympic gold, and with TNA's viewing figures going up by around 150% in Britain this year, change might just be happening, if only TNA could focus more on the youth MCMG and generation me, and less on the experience Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff then maybe the future of TNA will be bright, and the change that is being promised will be a positive one.

£14.95 we want our money back.

If you are old enough to remember when heavyweight boxing meant 2 men fighting for all they had, losing sweat and blood and tears for the ultimate prize, after Saturdays performance it seems to me that the only thing that was on Harrison and to some point Haye's mind was the pay slip, 1 punch by either men in 202 second is disgraceful, when compared to the fighters such as Bruno, Lewis, Ali, Haye who tells anyone who can bother listening to him that he is the best in the world right now. That may be but he has only fought 5 heavyweights fights and he is the world champion, compare him to Bruno who had 6 classic heavyweight fights and victories by the way until he could even consider to fight for this title which in the last 10 years has lost all meaning.

Champions League what have we learnt so far.

so here we stand in the champion league and with 4 games of the 6 gone, the predictability of the group stages has yet again supplied, next to no huge surprises maybe with the exception of Basel beating Roma, but in general we have predicted the general outcome of every game, and yet again the group stages are used to develop the inner arrogance of the 4 participating English teams.
But what have the English clubs actually achieved, Manchester United learnt that they could not even come close to defeating a weak Rangers team at home, and that Arsenal's youth just is not developing at the pace that Arsene Wenger tells all of his fans, finally we have learnt that Tottenham are now relying too much on Van Der Vaart and Bale, without these two Redknapp seems destined to blame either Referee or the strength of the other team then blaming the short comings of his squad.
As for Chelsea who have they faced 3 teams which many would struggle to put up an argument to why they deserve to be in the champions league at all.
It's the same old story the English teams have been glorified just so the media can bring the teams back down to the harsh reality when they are all defeated and we do not have an Englsih team at the Wembley Final.

Blackpool are going going gone up to 9th

My first thoughts about Blackpool Fc, a well run club, well managed and with the current predicament that is going on in football I must credit Blackpool for playing the attractive football which makes a championship team look like a true premier league team, even with a low budget and even with the media on Ian Holloway's back I must say that the refreshing way of football that Blackpool display simply will not last why? I hear you shout at your screen, the answer is the January transfer windows these players who are playing better than Yaya Toure, now wants to much up with his exageraent wages.

what difference a day makes

How dare Wayne Rooney, be paid so much, how dare Mr Rooney for holding his club by the scruff of their neck and declaring his intent to leave, oh wait he has just signed a new deal, never mind, some will say but in the space of 24 hours how can he go from saying the club has no ambition to the club is on the right track, the fact is that Rooney's new deal means one thing the wage packet must have improved well done Wayne you have squeezed more money out of the club, that you will waste.

Why Atwell Why

Mr Stuart Atwell, has become the most controversial ref, for the past 2 years, why? because it seems that common sense alludes him, not only did he once give the ghost goal, and not only did he send Gary Cahill off for a tackle that was never even worth a yellow, yet Mr Atwell today let Gerrard off for an elbow just like he did when Gerrard hit Brown last season when Portsmouth went to Anfield, it seems for every game Mr Atwell has he makes more and more mistakes and the fact is Mr Atwell will make one mistake which will cost a team, either survival or maybe even the tittle.

Sunday 3 October 2010

the biggest British fight in 15 years but does anyone care.

In the red corner a man who lost to a 40 year old, a man who seemed to have fought nobody of great significance, and is running scared of two Ukrainian brothers, and in the blue corner a man who around 10 years ago had the world of boxing at his feet or maybe his hands but he has thrown it away and deserved to lose in his last match, the reason i ask this is with less than 2 months to go until a big world title fight there has been a press conference and a few interviews, unless the PR of this fight is improved than the battle of Britain may just have to be seen as a fight that only  2 people really care about.

why golf and common sense dont work

I have just heard that they Ryder cup will now go into a fourth day, that is not a disaster but one thing that makes no sense is why play this great cup in Wales in October, the weather in Wales is not known for its day in and day out sunshine but especially in the winter months, the Fed Ex cup has to be blamed though and this big money tournament has proven that although the Ryder Cup is a big spectical the lure of the big money Fed Ex cup will always be a priority.

Why the carling cup is overtaking the Fa cup

This seems to be an unhappy statement, but possibly true because while the Carling cup is played in a period where players are fresh and ready to play, the Fa cup appears at the worst possible time, when players are wanting their Christmas break, so while Manchester United will be resting players against Scunthorpe, they will field players who have hope that the game against Scunthorpe may lead to a starting birth in the premier league, for example Bebe it's a big chance for him tomorrow, yet in January if the same game was played then it would be a different story, because while the reserve Manchester United players have lost all hope for the season, they would face a team in Scunthorpe more interested in Championship safety, yet tommorow will be a different and more enjoyable story.

why Berbatov and Rooney are switching roles

For the last 2 season Wayne Rooney has been the golden boy of Manchester, and Dimitar Berbatov has been given the name Berbaflop, it finally looks like roles have reversed, and it shows how the reward of effort finally looks to have paid off, so while Rooney has late night sessions in dodgy hotel, Berbatov has lost weight and gained an even better first touch, the price tag now looks justified and the only question now has to be when will Rooney get back to the level he was at last season.

The French disaster

It is hard to believe that in  just four years a country can go from reaching the World cup final, to being beaten by South Africa, and many indicated that the change in manager would help, but the 1-0 loss at home to Belarus, proves different, the answer is simple stop treating the team  like they can not do anything right because although individually this country has an array of talent, in internationals moral plays an even bigger part, than in the domestic leagues, if France with the talented manager of Laurent Blanc can get this right then French football will soon rise to the top once again.

Give non-league a go.

while Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool all completed comfortable and boring wins, i was at Harrogate town, watching a thrilling 6-3 win for Boston United, it is a shame that a game of such quality had such a low attendence just under 600 people, attitudes need to change just because these players did not play in the world cup it does not mean that the game will be filled with errors infact, the game was highly enjoyable and not predictable, also the fans in the lower leagues get better value for money, it angers me that some fans are willing to go to old Trafford and sit in the stands where you cannot see the game properly,  Altrincham F.C. is not too far away.

Who will go where prediction and who needs who.

With just under 18 hours till the door closes on one of the most remarkable transfer markets to this date, now its showtime, these final few hours always create one thing PANIC.
This day is normally the culmination of a summers worth of trailing for a player or a last ditch signing.
my 3 definate prediction
1)Asamoah Gyan to Sunderland - no suprise this deal is nearly done and could be one of the best deals Steve Bruce has ever done, he is the player that Bruce always buys a hard worker and although Gyan did miss that penalty this world cup was the stage he needed to get his dream move to England.
2) Robbie Keane to Aston Villa - this deal has been in the line since about the end of July, and even though Martin O Neil has gone Kevin MacDonald has insisted his team needs one more striker, maybe a swap deal with Ashley Young going the other way may happen.
3) Marc Wilson to Stoke- this deal is nearly done but what a deal it could turn out to be for Portsmouth, Wilson is a good player don't get me wrong and he could grow into being a world- class player but at Portsmouth he will not get the chance to grow, so to sell him and get 3.3 million pounds plus Kitson who is proven at championship level, and lawrence, who for the Republic of Ireland, has developed into a trusted performer on the right wing, so i fell Portsmouth gain more from this deal then Stoke, finally Portsmouth might be able to name a 5- men bench.

Finally the 3 clubs who need to buy
1) Blackpool- you look at the heart that this team has, and although everyone wants them to stay up, but injuries happen and Ian Holloway knows it i expect them to get 5 new players in Lafferty, Phillips , Dj Campbell, Ball, Bah if Holloway can get these 5 players in and Bloomfield Road can have the atmosphere it had on Saturday then Blackpool may stay around for more than just one season.
2) Tottenham Fc- If they were just in the premier league i belive nothing would happen today, but with the champions league now playing on Harry's mind i believe they will sign two players today, Pienaar and Muntari if Harry can get the 3 players he wanted overall for the transfer market and get rid off one or two, then Redknapp will see this window as a success.
3) Wigan - they can lose 4-0 to Blackpool, then 6-0 to Chelsea, and even beat Tottenham 1-0, but this shows that Wigan rely too much on Rodallega, they need 2 more strikers maybe old boy Jason Robers or perhaps Di Santo from Chelsea, but at least they will sign Cleverly from Manchester United this morning he will give them something they badly need.
This transfer period is seen as important, and it is but this day is overated no team can be relegated by January the 1st, but teams can be out of the tittle race by then, so i expect a lot of transfers in the next 17 or so hours.

money does not buy success

So here we are in a recession and yet Manchester city have somehow managed to spend just over 150 million, yet they still lose to a team like Sunderland was it a surprise? the sad truth was no because, because while each Manchester City player is paid a vast some of money, Sunderland players although paid well enough, are not a bunch of men who turn up every day in training whether unhappy because they know that they are destined for the bench each week or just thinking about their next cheque, Sunderland Fc are a team and not a group of individuals, so while Tevez is missing an open goal and Richards is rugby tackling Darren Bent to the ground in the 94th minute, Sunderland are playing safe and in my opinion, proving that Manchester City's dream of winning the Premier League may have to be forgotten for this season at least.
